Why do I procrastinate? I’ve been trying to answer this question for a long time, and frankly, I don’t really know. The closest I’ve come to answering this is simply my strive for perfection.

I’m afraid of not getting things exactly perfect – not for others, but for myself. Over-complicating, thinking things over and waiting for a better solution is what I end up doing instead of just trying.

Can you guess how long it took me to start this blog, and not to mention this post? 1 week? 3 weeks? 3 months? Wrong. It has taken me over a year. I registered this domain sometime in 2008 and thought I would start the blog up during summer when I had the time. Needless to say, that never happened.

I use my time perfecting my skills in theory, making them perfect so I don’t have to make something mediocre from the start. I had a vision of making money on this blog already within the first month. (So silly.) My content would be amazing and people would be flocking here from StumbleUpon and other social media sites. Now, I won’t be disappointed if that doesn’t happen.

One other reason I’ve been delaying the launch of this blog is simply because I don’t like pre-made themes. Since I’ve been putting out making one, I didn’t really get far.

I don’t really have a solution to eradicate procrastination – I doubt it can ever be done by anyone. But there are some measures you can do to diminish it. I found self-confidence works a treat, and the ability to actually try before giving up. You could also become a structured procrastinator.
